Facing the Storms of Life
I know people who are
walking through stormy experiences right now. For some it is
financial, job insecurity, or concern about the future. For others,
it is their poor health or the poor health of a family member. One
thing is for sure, it is not a question of “if” but “when” our
stormy times come. How we respond to those difficult stormy times is
very important. I learned through my storms of life just how small
and powerless I am to live through the storms without God’s help and
presence.
It
was the Psalmist who said, “The Lord is
my strength and shield.
I trust him with
all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in
songs of thanksgiving.” (Psalms 28:7 NLT) The Word of God has
sustained us during our stormy days. Our dependence upon Him and His
promises have led us through our difficult days. Because of what God
has done for me, I want to “shout it from the rooftops”. I want
everyone to know God is good because I realize it
was God’s miraculous healing that let me survive stage 4
lymphoma, thyroid cancer, and brain cancer. I also realize I have
already lived more years than I have left on this earth, but I have
a certainty of my home with God in eternity because Jesus is my
Savior and Lord! I have learned that one thing is certain: once the
storm is over, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s
what storms are all about.
