God Gives Grace Generously
I just turned 70 years old. I have all the normal aches and
pains, but I am otherwise healthy! I am thankful for the
healing God has given me from stage four Lymphoma,
Thyroid Cancer, and Brain Cancer. I like to share with
others what God has done! I am thankful to be alive!
Since I was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I have
discovered old dogs can learn new tricks!
(1) I learned to pray, “God, I need your
sustaining grace.” I admit, there were times I felt like
giving up. But I learned to throw myself on the
sustaining grace of God and cry out for His help. In
James 4, the Bible says that “God gives grace generously”.
(2) I learned to let God’s Word comfort me,
strengthen me, and give me the energy to keep going. For
many years, even before I got cancer, I awaken each
morning at 4 am for my Bible study and prayer time. It
was the Psalmist who said, “Revive me with your word”
(3) I learned to hold on to God’s promises. The
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power
of the weak. Even youth grow tired and weary … but those
who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They
will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not
grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”
(Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV).
(4) I learned to keep my eyes focused on the hope
of Heaven, not just on the here and now. I know I have
already lived a lot longer than I have left and I will
receive my ultimate healing when I breathe my last
breath because Jesus is my Savior and Lord. God is good
and I’m glad I belong to Him!
